Introduction: Over time, it has been noticed that plastic surgeries are increasingly highlighted in the media, and such procedures have an aesthetic character. Women seek breast surgeries due to dissatisfaction with their bodies pre-surgery and point to the breast as their major concern, and thus the desire to boost self-esteem stands out as one of the main motivations for undergoing surgery. Therefore, breast augmentation and its influences on female self-esteem emerge as a relevant topic for studies. Objective: To analyze the influences on the self-esteem of women who underwent breast augmentation. Materials and Methods: For this study, a systematic review was conducted, and its methodology was based on the analysis of five scientific articles focusing on evaluating the satisfaction level and quality of life of women who underwent breast augmentation post-operatively. The descriptors used were "Postoperative mammaplasty" and "Self-esteem after mammaplasty." The bibliographic search was conducted using articles from the PUBMED and LILACS platforms. These articles were analyzed with the aim of bringing a reflection on the topic. Results: After a thorough analysis of the articles, it was noted that mammaplasty has various positive influences on female self-esteem. It was also highlighted that the improvement in breast appearance after mammaplasty can increase satisfaction with body image, resulting in a positive impact on self-esteem. Additionally, the surgery relieves associated psychological problems such as anxiety, depression, and emotional discomfort related to low self-esteem. Conclusion: Therefore, post-surgery increases self-esteem, satisfaction levels, and restores femininity, thereby improving the quality of life and mental health of women. In this sense, it is important to choose a qualified professional who instills confidence, understands the patient's desires, and implements the procedure in the best possible way, also conducting studies that provide more knowledge about mammaplasty and its influences.
